Public voting looks democratic, and some well-known awards rely on it. It also measures something different from excellence. A public vote rewards the size of a company’s audience and the energy of its campaign. The Global Elite Awards are decided on evidence instead, by a confidential panel applying the same criteria to every nominee, and that choice shapes what a title means.
What a vote really measures
When a result depends on votes, the winner is usually the company that asked the most people to vote for it. Large brands with big followings have a natural advantage. Smaller companies with exceptional standards but a modest audience rarely win, however good their work is. The result tells a client who was best at mobilising support, not who was best at the work.
What evidence measures
A panel review asks different questions. How good is the product or the service? How are clients treated? What has the company introduced, and has the standard held over time? These are questions a following cannot answer. At the Global Elite Awards, every eligible nominee is scored on six equally weighted criteria, benchmarked within its category, and only then reviewed by the panel.
Why the panel is confidential
An evidence-based award still has to protect its judges from pressure. If panel members were named, nominees could approach them, and the review would risk becoming a contest of access. Our panel brings together senior specialists, including people with past experience at institutions such as the Michelin Guide and international hospitality and property awards. Their names are not published, so that every decision is reached on the evidence alone.
What this means for a winner
A title decided on merit is easier to stand behind. When a client asks how it was won, the answer is a published process: four eligibility conditions, six criteria and nine stages, set out in full on The Award page. No one campaigned for it and no one voted for it. It was decided.
What this means for everyone else
Because there is no vote, there is no campaign to run. A company does not need a large audience to be considered, only the standard. That is why boutique companies sit alongside some of the best-known names in their fields among our winners.
If your company leads its field, you can submit a nomination. It is free.
