A good nomination is short, specific and easy to verify. Whether you are putting forward your own company or one you admire, the same principles apply, and they decide how clearly the panel can see what makes the company stand out. This guide uses the Global Elite Awards as the example, where nomination is free and open to companies in 15 industries.
Check eligibility first
Most credible awards publish their eligibility rules, and it is worth reading them before you start. For the Global Elite Awards, a company needs at least two years of operation, a verifiable business with an active website, a clear place in one of the recognised industries, and evidence of standing that can be shown. If one of these is missing, it is better to wait until it is in place.
Choose the right category
Be precise about what the company actually does. A boutique hotel with an acclaimed restaurant may be strongest in hospitality, or in gastronomy, but rarely in both at once. Titles at the Global Elite Awards are specific, naming the company’s achievement rather than a generic category, so a focused nomination gives the panel more to work with.
Show, do not claim
Adjectives carry little weight in a review. Evidence does. Name the projects, products or properties that best represent the company. Point to independent client reviews, press coverage and any recognition already received. Describe one or two things the company introduced or does differently, and explain how long the standard has been maintained.
Keep the information accurate
Every nomination is checked during screening and assessment. Figures, dates and claims should be ones the company can stand behind. Inaccurate information does not help a nomination: at the Global Elite Awards, it removes a company from consideration.
Use the right contact
Give the name and email of the person who should hear about the nomination, ideally a founder, managing director or head of communications. That is who our nomination manager will confirm receipt with once the nomination has been processed.
Know what happens next
After submission, the company goes through screening, assessment, evaluation against six equally weighted criteria, shortlisting and a decision by the confidential panel. You can read each stage on The Award page. There is no entry fee, and submitting creates no obligation of any kind.
When you are ready, the nomination form takes a few minutes to complete.
