ICONICO has been selected for the Global Elite Awards Top 100 Edition 2026, placing the Mexico City-based architecture and project management studio among 100 companies selected worldwide across the industries represented by the programme.
The distinction follows ICONICO’s recognition earlier in 2026 as Leading Full-Service Architecture and Workplace Design Studio in Mexico and reflects a body of work combining architectural design, project management and close construction supervision across industrial, workplace, educational, civic and large-scale projects.
More Than 20 Years Between International Standards and Mexico
ICONICO is led by its founder and CEO, Moritz Melchert, a German architect who has been practicing in Mexico for more than 20 years, with extensive experience in industrial architecture and complex large-scale developments.
This German-Mexican background has shaped one of the studio’s defining capabilities: bridging the standards, processes and expectations of international clients with the regulatory, technical and construction realities of Mexico.
Rather than simply importing international solutions, ICONICO translates them into architecture adapted to local conditions, technologies, materials and construction culture while preserving the client’s objectives, quality standards and identity.
Design and Delivery Under One Roof
ICONICO combines architectural design and project management within one integrated practice, accompanying projects from the earliest strategic decisions through technical development, coordination, construction supervision and delivery.
For the studio, successful architecture does not end when the design is completed. The architectural idea must remain intact throughout the many technical, financial and construction decisions required to turn it into reality.
Swiss School in Mexico: An Integrated Campus Transformation
One of ICONICO’s defining projects completed in 2026 is the multi-phase expansion of the Swiss School in Mexico, located in Mexico City.
The project includes a semi-Olympic swimming hall, a new restaurant and community space, a new school entrance, cultural facilities, landscaped areas and a sports campus.
ICONICO combined design, project management and close construction supervision throughout the project, coordinating new architecture, existing facilities, infrastructure and construction logistics within an operating school campus.
Hirschvogel: Long-Term Industrial Architecture in Mexico
ICONICO has also developed extensive experience supporting international manufacturers investing and expanding in Mexico.
One example is its long-term collaboration with Hirschvogel Components Mexico, for which ICONICO developed the architecture of an approximately 23,700 m² industrial complex.
In 2026, the partnership entered a new phase, with ICONICO now involved in a further expansion of approximately 20,000 m², a project that has recently started.
The relationship reflects ICONICO’s broader approach to industrial architecture: integrating production requirements, technical standards, workplace quality, corporate identity and long-term growth into a coherent architectural and project-management strategy.
Architecture Across Scales
Beyond industrial and workplace projects, ICONICO’s portfolio extends across educational and cultural buildings, commercial and mixed-use developments, residential architecture, hospitality, civic projects and urban and landscape masterplans.
Across these different scales and typologies, the approach remains consistent: understand the context and the client’s objectives, develop a clear architectural response, and maintain responsibility for its successful implementation.
What the Top 100 Recognition Signals
The Global Elite Awards Top 100 is the programme’s annual international selection of 100 companies across the industries it covers.
For ICONICO, the recognition reflects a practice positioned between architecture and execution, international standards and local expertise, design ambition and technical feasibility.
From complex industrial expansions to the transformation of an educational campus in Mexico City, ICONICO’s work is connected by the same objective: creating architecture that is clear in concept, rigorous in execution and capable of delivering lasting value.
